Author Lily Rabble
Lily Rabble was born in north London and initially raised in a one-bedroom flat that she shared with her parents, two sisters, and a giant dog. She had to go to the loo in a freezing outhouse and hide her books in the garden shed. Her early years were colourful and chaotic - her builder Dad was a dodgy dealer with poetic aspirations; her mother, a beehive-wearing sceptic of literature who banned books as messy nonsense—an act that only fuelled Lily’s lifelong obsession with reading and writing.
Lily is a self-described geezerette with a literary streak. Miss Rabble’s life has been defined by an enduring duality: part wild child, part contemplative reader. She has lived on ships, yachts, houseboats and in a sublet room in a flat where the landlord thought the Queen was an actress. She has embraced her affinity with water and the stars with unbroken devotion. Her career path has been as varied as her reading list—ranging from brewery worker, fashion house assistant, lifeguard and teacher.
Her debut book, ‘The Travels of Rabble’, was written during a time of melancholy and personal upheaval, it reflects a life less ordinary, told with daring, charm, and uncompromising honesty and fun. Lily loves books, boats, dancing, the sea and the stars, she has no time for bores, snobs, virtue signallers or vanilla.
